Some sounds are so pure, they reach a place beyond words, touching something deep within. That’s what happens with the Tingsha’s, the small Tibetan cymbals I use to begin and end each session.
Their bright, celestial tone opens a space of stillness, presence, and awareness. One gentle strike, and the world falls silent.
Ancient origins, timeless power
Tingsha’s have been used for centuries in Tibetan Buddhism, originally in rituals and meditation. They’re connected by a leather cord and lightly struck together to produce a clear, long-lasting vibration.
In my sessions, the Tingsha’s serve as gatekeepers, they mark the opening of an inner journey and the soft return to the here and now. They create a safe frame around the sound experience.
Eight auspicious symbols, a golden story
The Tingsha’s I use are engraved with the Eight Tibetan Auspicious Symbols (Ashtamangala). Each symbol holds its own meaning:
the parasol, protection from negativity
the white conch shell, the pure sound of truth
the treasure vase, abundance and spiritual richness
the lotus, purity and enlightenment
the endless knot, connection and timelessness
the golden fishes, inner freedom and joy
the victory banner, triumph over ignorance
the Dharma wheel, the path of wisdom and life
These symbols are not just decoration. Together, they tell a story of harmony, balance, and deep meaning — values I also feel in my work with Sound Meditation.
Why they’re in my logo
In my logo, you’ll see two small Tingsha’s placed on either side of the Flower of Life, the sacred geometry of universal harmony and life energy.
The combination of these two symbols, sound and form, represents everything Power of Sound Meditation stands for: balance between humans, animals, and nature, between stillness and vibration, between mind and heart.
Eight as my guiding number
That these Tingsha’s are decorated with eight symbols is especially meaningful to me. Eight has always been my lucky number. It symbolizes infinity (∞), flow, balance, and the natural rhythm of life. It’s a number of strength and softness, of reciprocity and trust. Exactly the energy I wish to create in every session.
The circle is complete
Every session begins and ends with the sound of the Tingsha’s. A soft ping, like a gentle reminder: you are here, you are alive, you are safe to let go.
And each time, I feel it again, this simple sound does something profound. It opens, it connects, it harmonizes. Maybe that’s the true meaning of happiness.
